by Celebrate Local Team, Feb. 17, 2016
We are very excited to introduce you to Celebrate Local champions who are making a difference in our community. Over the coming weeks, we will be introducing champions from a variety of sectors – men and women – who are dynamic leaders in their fields.
We are particularly pleased to to introduce Matt Crossen as we follow him and the Western Formula Race Team. Every year, they conceive, design, and build a formula-style race car. This vehicle will compete in the FSAE series across North America, where it is judged against 120 other universities on it’s design and viability as a mass-produced consumer autocross race.

Western Formula Racing is a team which consists of over 60 undergraduate students from across the University of Western Ontario. Although the team is primarily engineers; students from across campus with an interest in racing, design, and business join our team. Each year the team designs, analyzes and builds a formula style race car to compete against teams from across the world. Even with a smaller team in size and resources they have proven themselves as one of the top entries against over 120 teams at a single competition.
From working with a team, designing, building, and racing a formula style race car, to making industry contacts and traveling all across North America; Western Formula Racing offers amazing opportunities for undergraduate students at Western. Western Formula Racing provides a positive work and learning experience that benefits many students at Western.
